"Utiel-Requena is on the east coast of Spain in the region of Valencia. It sits on a flat, dry plateau just inland from the coast at about 700m above sea level. The unique climate makes for some interesting wines. While Bobal dominates the planting, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Cab Sauv and white grapes like Xarel-lo and Macabeo are also allowed. This blend of Garnacha and Bobal is big and bold, with dried fruits, warm spice and toasted vanilla exploding from the glass. The warm Utiel-Requeña region suits Grenache, known here as Garnacha, just fine. It’s been blended with the native Spanish variety, Bobal, adding vibrancy and additional red fruit flavours.  The grapes were hand harvested, and the highest quality were reserved for this bottling.

Deeply coloured, the wine is intensely aromatic with dark cherries, black Doris plums, and strawberry leaping out of the glass. There is a pleasant amount of toasty spice characters from the oak aging and a touch of lavender as well. Lush and robust on the palate, with a long and persistent finish, this wine over-delivers for its price point.
