It may come as a surprise, but Merlot is widely grown throughout Italy. There, it’s known for making makes plush wines with plenty of fruit. In the northern region of Veneto, where this wine is made, the climate is a bit cooler than in southern Italy. So, Merlot retains a bit of its structure, creating well-balanced wines with soft tannins and fresh ripe fruit.
This lush wine is dominated by red fruits such as cherries, raspberries, and currants. Subtly savoury and floral, notes of lavender and violet give the wine a bit of complexity and evoke memories of the Venetian countryside.
