In 1990, Véronique Barthe became the first woman to inherit her family’s vineyards since the French Revolution. She has since transformed and modernised the estate into the powerhouse it is today. This wine is a blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are located on the West bank of the Dordogne river and get a bit warmer than more coastal areas of Bordeaux. The result is a riper fruit character and smoother tannins than other more structured Bordeaux reds.
Plush and fleshy on the palate, this medium bodied wine is dominated by plums and juicy cherries. A hint of spice and mocha are also present alongside more savoury notes.
This wine is absolutely singing right now. No need to cellar, just open and enjoy!
